The park is also a great spot for hiking and dog walking. There are several trails that go through the park, and some of them are ADA-accessible. The park is located on Old Stagecoach Road in San Marcos.

Whether you want to swim in the pool or kayak upstream, there is something for everyone at Five Mile Dam Park. You can also float down the river on a tube, and the experience is incredibly relaxing.

Hiking

Located just a short drive from both Austin and San Marcos, this park is the perfect place to escape the city. Whether you’re interested in swimming, boating or just relaxing on the beach, you will find plenty of activities to enjoy at Five Mile Dam Park.

Despite being surrounded by development, this Hays County park remains a natural area, providing visitors with a scenic view of the Blanco River. It features high bank bluffs and shoals along the river, tall cottonwoods, sycamores, and pecan trees, as well as aqua trees that cling to the banks. This riparian habitat is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including Golden-fronted Woodpeckers and Ladder-backed Woodpeckers.

Known as John Stokes Park, this gorgeous park offers a variety of outdoor recreational activities such as hiking and kayaking. It is also a great place for friends to hang out, couples to spend the day together, and families to have reunions.

Soccer Complex

Five Mile Dam Park is a beautiful destination for river swimming and boating, but it also offers walking trails and a soccer complex. It is a great place for families to spend the afternoon. The park is located on the Blanco River and features plenty of outdoor recreational activities for people of all ages.

The soccer complex has 10 fields, four of which are lighted. The fields are D1-certified and offer a unique soccer experience. The park is open to the public, and there are portable restrooms available. It is important to reserve the field before you arrive, as it can get crowded.

Enjoy a day at Five Mile Dam, then venture over to the Blue Hole Regional Park in Wimberley for some river access and swimming.
